Day 7 of the COVID-19 Battle Plan

Is your house feeling small? Click on the video above to dream about the NEW – BIGGER – BETTER  house you are going to build once all this COVID stuff is over on this fabulous lot in gated and exclusive Bayway Isles, just 10 minutes from Downtown St. Petersburg! Afterall, the stock market is a little volatile. And land, especially waterfront land, is a great investment. At $1,000,000 for almost 1/3 acre, this is a real peach. Here is a video of a house you can build: https://bit.ly/BaywayIsles4923-59thAve  I have a builder ready to put this house, (or any other one that you fancy on this lot.) Both can be yours for a cool $2,486,000!  Contact me for more information! Annie@BeachTimeTeam.com

I feel SO MUCH BETTER TODAY! I hope you do too! I spent the day figuring out the Stimulus Plan, at least as to how it will help me. For my vacation rental business I will be able to keep my remaining employees employed, albeit at a lower rate for this wee while, as we wait for the world to sort itself out. I will in no way be whole. But, let’s just say… Good enuf and thank you! If you need any information about the programs, email me and I will send you what I have!

Speaking of the world sorting itself out, as I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, Governor DeSantis ordered all vacation rental reservations for arrival dates of March 29th, 2020 forward for 14 days to be cancelled. This order only applied to vacation rentals, not resorts/hotels or motels. I sent him the email below. I urge you to do the same. Please email:   diane.moulton@eog.myflorida.com to express your thoughts to the Governor.

(Here is the email that I sent. Copying and pasting would be just grand; or, pen your own ’email blast!’)

Dear Ms. Moulton:

Please pass this on to whomever you see fit, in addition to Governor DeSantis. Thank you for your assistance.

Here is an interesting question for my Governor and his advisors:

Which form of transient accommodation has the best potential for self-isolation/ social distancing?

    1. A hotel/motel/resort room with daily maid service and no kitchen facilities
    2. A vacation rental condo with a bedroom, living room and full kitchen
    3. A private single-family home rented to a vacation rental guest with private pool
I STRONGLY suggest that the answer is “3”.

Here is another question: Rank the type of accommodations below from 1 to 3 on the basis of their suitability for self-isolation/ social distancing?

    1. A hotel room with daily maid service and no kitchen facilities
    2. A vacation rental condo with a bedroom, living room and full kitchen
    3. A private single-family home rented to a vacation rental guest with private pool
I STRONGLY suggest that the answer is “3”, followed by “2”, with “1” having the most limited potential for successful self-isolation/ social distancing!

Therefore, I wish to know why my vacation rental business was shut down for the next 14 days while hotels and motels were allowed to continue operations. I STRONGLY suggest that more successful and powerful lobbying is at play here.  My small vacation rental business of 120+ units has suffered massive losses, through no fault of mine. I do not object to the order to stop visitors from coming into our state in an effort to curb the spread of this virus. I STRONGLY object to the exceptionally ineffective and discriminatory decision to penalize vacation rentals and in so doing reward hotels and motels.

Most sincerely from an extremely disgruntled small business woman and constituent,

  1. Excellent points, Annie Fleeting. This seem sc a hasty “we have to do something” quick fix of the poorest equation.
Providing homes in which anyone and everyone may survive in healthy conditions just makes sense. My daughters and son in law are in hotel builsiness and many of their hotels are closed for a long list of viable reasons. 26 in all high end hotels with whom they work. To run hotels many transient employees are required. In rental homes no outside assistance is needed. Safety is in private homes. Please reconsider this edit to close rental home businesses.
